An Ongoing Spiritual Conversation

I'm Eric Elkin, creator and host of Ordinary Voices. When I first created the podcast, I just wanted to do it to help me listen better to others.

Then I realized how hungry people were for spiritual conversations.

It's About Hope

Making Our Way, Together

Ordinary Voices is a resource for people wherever they might be on their spiritual journey to discover expressions of hope in daily life. The PODCAST invites listeners into the lives of ordinary people. In listening to the thoughts of others, we hear some of our own struggles with life and faith—then, in reflection, we will find the hope so many are desperate to discover.

The BLOGS are short daily meditations attempting to bridge the gap between scripture and daily living. They are designed to be a quick read to help people make connections between worship and work. What's more, the resources for further study into the podcasts are available now.

Ordinary Voices is built upon the idea there is no one right way to approach faith. Within the conversation between different approaches, we encounter a new understanding of our own faith context. Thank you for visiting! I hope you can find your own spiritual voice through Ordinary Voices.

Wow! I just spent my morning listening to your podcast while getting ready for the day ahead. I’m not 100% sure why, but at the end of it tears just started running down my face.

CONVERSATIONS

OV Color Icon

A mentor once told me I needed to know the difference between what people want and what they need.  People often tell you what they want, but to know their needs requires a deeper conversation. Your desire may be peace, but only a conversation about your life will identify the things preventing you from discovering peace.

Christian community is not an ideal we have to realize, but rather a reality created by God in Christ in which we may participate.
— Dietrich Bonhoeffer, "Life Together"

This is exactly what I hope to accomplish through Ordinary Voices—in listening to ordinary people I might be able to help you discover your spiritual needs so that you might find what you want most in life.
